A recent post by Chris Marrou, which really hit home.
WAITING FOR OCTOBER
There’ll be a big surprise.
It’s pretty clear that Democrats believe that voter fraud, like abortion, is a Constitutional right handed to them by God.
Well, they would if they believed in God.
Anyway, last week the U.S. Department of Justice, once an actual trustworthy organization, filed suit against the State of Arizona over its voting rules claiming the state’s requirements for voting were clearly racist and unconstitutional.
And what set them off? Arizona’s requirement that voters show they are U.S. citizens. Those of you who thought that was the whole idea—that only citizens should vote in our elections—clearly are behind the times.
Certainly all the Democrats are behind the Times—the New York Times, which has now accepted at least two Pulitzer Prizes under false pretenses. The Times liked the whole idea, noting that “Democratic leaders and voting rights groups have pressed [Attorney General] Garland to act more decisively against measures that limit access to the ballot.”
Meaning, of course, anything that limits voter fraud for Democrats. The article continued, “The [Justice] department said the law also ran afoul of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in asking election officials to reject [proposed] voter registration forms based on errors or omissions that are not relevant to a voter’s eligibility.” So this means that Democrats now believe that U.S. citizenship “is not relevant to a voter’s eligibility.”
Actually, that part of the 1964 law was put in there because Southern voting officials used to have literacy tests for voting: white voters had to read “Fun with Dick and Jane” if challenged, while black voters got “War and Peace,” “The Iliad” or the like. In English, if they were lucky.
The restrictions were many back in the day. In 1932, Georgia was particularly rough on black would-be voters. First, blacks were presumed to be Republicans because of that Lincoln=freeing-the-slaves thing and usually barred outright from voting in a Democratic primary, where the actual choosing of candidates occurred. Georgia also had a literacy test, required voters to own property valued at $500, ownership of 40 acres of land and payment of property taxes 6 months before an election. As you might guess, the rules were often relaxed for poor whites. In Louisiana, a United Press report noted, “colored persons must ‘understand’ the Constitution to obtain the vote.” Needless to say the average black voter had to do a lot more “understanding” than the average white.
Guess what? All, and I mean ALL, those bigoted Southern voting officials were Democrats. For 100 years after the Civil War, Democrats dominated the South because Republicans had freed the slaves. They hated that. The same Democratic Party we have today was the one that backed slavery, segregation, lynchings, the KKK, and on and on. The same sort of Democrats who used to fudge elections by blocking black voters now want to open them up to non-citizens and people who believe voting five or six times only requires signing five or six different names on the voting rolls. Same strategy, different tactics.
As of 2020 the California Secretary of State’s website noted that such trivia as driver licenses and utility bills could be used to establish a right to vote in that state, even though those things are commonly issued to people here illegally. Only in the past year has the site added phrases stating that well, maybe you should be a citizen before you use such documentation—but they still gladly accept such trash.
Still, I can’t wait to see what is coming this October. In addition to rampant fraud, Democrats will use their friends in the media to hand out falsehoods to any and all readers and viewers. Today, Republicans are way ahead in opinion polls. It looks like they’ll have majorities in both houses of congress after the election. That cannot be allowed, so Democrats are coming up with some surprise that they will be “shocked and alarmed” by this October.
It will involve a Republican, and the Republican will allegedly have done something good Republicans don’t do, like having sex with a Chinese spy (no, wait—that was California rep. Eric Swallwell, a Democrat). It will involve money, sex or Russians, maybe all three. We know it won’t allege anything bad about the Chinese, since half the people in Congress are taking payoffs from them. But it will be big, it will be loudly repeated, and after all is said and done it will not be true, like Russian collusion.
It will be interesting, though. That’s because almost all writers in Hollywood are leftists. They’ll be expected to come up with something really convincing.
I can’t wait.
Bring popcorn.
